Brett Hodgson (born February 12, 1978 in Liverpool, New South Wales) is an Australian rugby league player for the Wests Tigers in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition and also for New South Wales. He debuted at Western Suburbs magpies at wing where his performances during the 1999 NRL season belied the club's ordinary season. He has previously played for the Parramatta Eels and his position of choice is at Fullback. He is a tiny player by Rugby standards being but 75 kg and according to an article in The Sydney Morning Herald on a diet of 7 meals a day to attempt to "bulk" up.^{[citation needed]} This has led to him being "smashed" by bigger men in most games. One notable instance occurred when Gordon Tallis during a tackle alternately dragged and "jersey swung" Hodgson towards the touchline for 10 metres to secure a turnover. However he uses his smaller physique to his advantage during games by consistently creating gaps around the larger men in the NRL.

Midway through the first half of the clash between Wests Tigers and Hodgson's old club, Parramatta Eels, Hodgson's knee was scratched by the Telstra Stadium ground surface, resulting in a knee injury. He was later ruled out for the rest of the season. His final year at Parramatta was cut short with a rib injury sustained in a round 16, 2003 game against Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
