Brian Howard (born January 23, 1983 in Winchester, Hampshire) is an English football midfielder who currently plays for Barnsley and wears the number 10 shirt.

Howard started his career as a trainee with Southampton but never made a full appearance before signing for Swindon Town in 2003 making his debut on 9 August 2003 against Sheffield Wednesday. He is a former England U-20 international.

Brian signed for Barnsley from Swindon Town in the summer of 2005 for 2 years. Howard has successfully stepped into the hole left by the departed Stephen McPhail and is regarded by many fans as a Barnsley hero in the making. Barnsley's supporters are often heard to sing 'There's Only One Brian Howard' at matches.

Howard was named Barnsley Player of the Year for the 2006-07 season. He then signed a new contract extending his stay at Oakwell until 2009.
