Briar Cliff University

Briar Cliff University is a Roman Catholic university operated by the Dubuque Franciscans in Sioux City, Iowa, USA. It was dedicated on September 18, 1930; the first group of 25 students arrived four days later. The university was named Briar Cliff after the hill on which it is located. Originally a girl's college, it became coed in 1965.

University status for the institution was recognized in June 1, 2001.
