Buriton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buriton is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England, about three miles south of Petersfield. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 736.

It also has 2 great tennis courts, and has two pubs - The Five Bells, and the The Master Robert. There is a large village pond with ducks and fish, with a car park, and a church called St. Marys.

It is a rural peaceful place, except for the main line train, on the Portsmouth to London line (Portsmouth Direct Line). The railway tunnel under the South Downs is visible from the recreation ground, where there is a pedestrian crossing over the railway (which the trains 'hoot' for) and there is also path under the railway bridge from South Lane, both of which go to the walks around the disused Chalk Pits.

It is near the South Downs Way and has several paths that join it and is next to Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
