CIC Video
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
CIC Video (pronounced "kick") was an home video distributor, owned by Cinema International Corporation (the forerunner of United International Pictures), and operated in some countries (such as France, Germany and the UK) by local operators. It distributed films by Universal Studios (now owned by NBC Universal/General Electric) and Paramount Pictures (now owned by Viacom), CIC's partners.
In 1999, CIC Video was dissolved, with the studio's own home entertainment divisions or local companies handling distribution of the studio's content.
CIC Video was operated in Australia (where it was known as CIC-Taft Home Video) by the Taft-Hardie joint venture (now Southern Star Group), and also distributed some Southern Star and Hanna-Barbera product under other labels.
Since the company was dissolved, it has appeared that Paramount Home Entertainment has become CIC's successor, with Universal forming their own home entertainment division.
