CKDG-FM

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CKDG-FM is a multilingual Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec.

Owned and operated by Marie Griffiths, it broadcasts on 105.1 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 141 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 224 watts (class A). Unlike most FM stations, it broadcasts in mono to maximize its Signal to Noise Ratio to all its listeners.

As per its licence, the station is forbidden to use English or French for more than 35 % of its broadcast schedule. CKDG-FM started in May 2005 to use this time for a variety hits format, but only available during the AM and PM drives, branded as "Mike-FM". The rest of the programming is composed of variety shows in various languages, but more particularly in Greek.

The station was previously known as CHCR when it was on closed circuit cable for decades, before moving to full-fledged FM in early 2004.

The station is currently the lowest rated station in the greater montreal radio. This can be attributed to Marie Griffith's (convicted of drug trafficking and prostitution in the 1980s) intolerable radio show, where she incoherently speaks in three languages leading one to doubt if she can speak any language proberly at all.
