CSN International began broadcasting Christian radio over satellite on April 26th, 1995 from KAWZ in Twin Falls, Idaho. KAWZ is the uplink station, owned by Calvary Chapel of Twin Falls, with Pastor Mike Kestler as its founder.

KAWZ is an FM radio station in Twin Falls, Idaho operating on a frequency of 89.9MHz with an effective radiated power of 100 kW at 302 meters above average terrain^[1].

KAWZ feeds nearly 400 broadcast translators nationwide^[2] across the United States, including Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands.^[3], which is by far the most of any full-power station in the United States. KAWZ Translators existed before LPFM stations, but LPFM advocates have characterized this proliferation as The Great Translator Invasion. Furthermore, because Calvary Chapel is a non-profit organization and operates non-profit stations, it is not required to have its translators receive KAWZ's signal over the air, as would be required for a commercial station.

The first satellite-fed translator to begin receiving the network from KAWZ was in Yucca Valley, California. Of note, one of KAWZ's translators, K200AA (Sun Valley, Nevada), is the only broadcast translator in the United States that is allowed to broadcast on 87.9 MHz.

The only board member of CSN the (Christian Satellite Network) is Pastor Mike Kestler. Pastor Kestler is president and co-founder of CSN.
