"Call Me" was originally a Greek song sung by Anna Vissi called Eisai (You Are) re-done in English. Eisai was sung at the 2004 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, where Anna Vissi got the whole stadium (and viewers) to dance with her. After that performance, many people in the music industry, told her that the song would sound good in English. So Nikos Karvelas wrote English lyrics to it. After many people heard the English version, they advised Anna Vissi to push forth with it. She then went to Sony BMG with it (her long time record company in Greece, and they were not interested in an English song from Vissi at the time, although she had released an English CD from them in 2001 called Everything I Am. After that, Vissi still pushed forth, and even performed it at a concert in Cyprus in September 2004, where her fans went crazy for it. In the meantime, Nicky Kalliongis heard about the song, and invited Vissi to New York City. Kalliongis loved the song, and proposed Vissi to sign with Moda Records. She said "yes", but on one condition. The song would be released from Vanilla/Moda Records , Vanilla being the name of her dog. They agreed, and Kalliongis started to work.

They then sent the song to radio stations, and DJ's. KTU was the first to pick it up, and it became an instant hit. It slowly gained airplay all over the nations dance radio stations. Vissi then performed it at Miami's White Party, and the crowd loved it. Many DJ's picked up on it, and made remixes. It was also included on many DJ's playlists. In April 2005, Vanilla/Moda Records released "Call Me" as a digital download at www.AllMusicSource.com, it included the original mix, and many DJ mixes. It also became available for download on the popular iTunes music store. Some of the DJ's who remixed the song included Valentine, Chris Cox, Friscia & Lamboy, Georgia, Lee Cabrera, Mike Cruz, Riddler, and more. At the same time it skyrocketed to number 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts. At that time Vissi then went on a mini-tour around USA and Canada clubs, promoting her song.

After the success on the Billboard charts, Sony BMG saw its success. It was reported all over Greece that Vissi made it to number 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts. So then Sony BMG asked Vissi if they could release it as a CD Single in Greece and Cyprus. She said yes, and it was released in end of June 2005. The CD single included, Call Me (Original Version), Call Me (Lee Cabrera Mix), Call Me (Chris Cox Mix), and a new English song called Lie (Radio Mix). Call Me and Lie instantly picked up radio play in Greece and Cyprus and the CD single skyrocketed to number one on the Greek IFPI Singles Charts, and the Cyprus Single Charts. It has since been included on many Dance complications world wide. Because of the success of it, Vissi is planning a new English album, sometime in 2006, with Call Me included on it. The success of the English song, also pushed ERT to choose Vissi to represent Greece in Eurovision 2006.
