Cameron Shepherd

Cameron Shepherd (born 30 March 1984) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He currently plays for the Western Force in the international Super 14 competition. His usual position is at fullback or wing.

Shephard was born in England but grew up in Sydney playing basketball and rugby for Barker College in the CAS competition. Scoring 23 points for Northern Suburbs in the Colts division, NSW selectors took notice of him. He signed with the New South Wales Waratahs. In 2003 Shepherd represented Australia at the under-21 level and the following year he played for Australia A. In 2005, Shephard signed a three year deal with new franchise, the Western Force, after speculation over whether he would re-sign with the Waratahs or join the Brumbies. He was selected to tour the Northern Hemisphere with the Wallabies, though he did not make his debut on tour. Following a successful season with the Force in their inugural season in 2006, Shepherd was included in the Wallabies squad. He scored his first test try on June 24, during the 2006 mid-year rugby test series against Ireland, at Subiaco Oval, which is currently the home ground of his Super 14 side, the Force.

He was picked for the Wallabies again in the final test of the 2006 Tri Nations Series to play Souh Africa. He was picked in the starting line-up on the wing. He is a great chance to be picked for Australia in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and is considered to be one of the rising stars of Australian Rugby.

Shepherd scored a conversion to his own try for the Force on the left touch-line after the siren on March 9, 2007 against the Wellington Hurricanes. Before the try, the Force trailed 11-17. The try made the score 16-17 and the successful conversion sealed an 18-17 win. This was the first ever home win for the Force in the Super 14 competition.
