Canadian Musician (CM) Magazine – first issue published in 1979, March/April issue. Published bi-monthly. Published by Norris-Whitney Communications based in St. Catharines, Ontario. First issue featured Burton Cummings on the cover. Over the years, prominent Canadian bands and artists have found their way to the cover of Canadian Musician including Rush, Great Big Sea, The Tea Party, Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, Nelly Furtado, Bruce Cockburn, The Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies and many more.

The magazine focuses on musicians, bands and gear in a technical manner. Each issue contains how-to articles, product reviews, event listings, business advice and more. Canadian Musician features regular columns on Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keyboards, Percussion, Brass, Woodwinds, Vocal, MIDI, Business, Songwriting, Live Sound, Recording and On-Line Music. Showcase section of the magazine features up-and-coming, unsigned Canadian artists. Also included are classified ads and new releases. Most articles are written by freelance writers with extensive experience and background in the music industry.

Canadian Musician celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2004.

Norris-Whitney Communications also publishes the following three magazines: Canadian Music Trade, Professional Sound and Professional Lighting, and Music Directory Canada.

Other divisions of Norris-Whitney Communications are Music Books Plus and Music & Home Entertainment Show.
