The Municipality of Candelaria (Filipino: Bayan ng Candelaria) is a first class municipality in the province of Quezon, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 92,429 people in 18,814 households. The town is 107 kilometres south of Manila and approximately 23 kilometres from Lucena City. It is traversed by the Maharlika Highway and the Philippine National Railways' Southrail line headed towards Legazpi City in Albay. It is bordered by Mount Banahaw to the north, San Juan, Batangas to the south, Tiaong and Dolores to the west, and Sariaya to the east. The municipality has a total area of 175 km².

Candelaria is the second-largest industrial center of the province, after Lucena City. Among the municipalities in Quezon province, Candelaria has the most desiccated coconut factories and oil refineries, such as Peter Paul, Primex, Pacific Royal, SuperStar, Licup Oil Mills, and others, which employ thousands of people.

The town fiesta is celebrated on the 5th of February to honor the patron saint San Pedro Bautista. Since 2004, Monsignor Charles Herrera, the parish priest, started his devotion to Nuestra Senora de Candelaria and honored her with a Candle Festival every February 2nd. The celebration is concluded with a procession through the streets of the town to bless the homes along the route. The residents decorated their houses with votive candles and miniature lights, creatively, using bamboo, palm leaves, coconut husk, flowers, and other native materials to accentuate the image of the Nuestra Senora de Candelaria as a centerpiece.

Mayor David Emralino is the current Mayor of Candelaria. He became in that position when he was appointed in 1986 as Officer-in-Charge. Venancio Dia maneuvered the appointment of Emralino. In 1988, he was "elected" (accdg. to the "reliable" Comelec)as its mayor. His rival was Sergio De Gala, son of Don Dionisio De Gala, a founder of the town. In 1992, he won the race against Lolita Reyes Maliwanag, the mother of incumbent vice mayor and soon-to-be Mayor Ferdinand "Bong" Maliwanag. He was re-elected easily in 1995. His opponent was Alberto Bolaños, brother of former Assemblyman Cesar Bolaños. The town is not in good situation during his almost 12 year stint as a mayor. Though it is a first class municipality, the performance is very poor. Politicking and dirty tricks in elections are always there. Illegal gambling and illegal drugs are very prevalent during his term. He has nothing to offer but his big big big tummy. After emralinos term in 1998, he ran for governor, fortunately, he lost via large margin. In the town, Isidro "Dory" De Gala became mayor and it was maneuvered by Emralino. tried again for mayorship in 2001. He challenged Mayor Dory. He "won" over his former "friend and partymate". Talk of the town is his winning. Many are saying that he cheated. It is true. The same incident was done again in 2004 against former Vice Mayor Anatalia "Naty" Atienza. Now, Emralino will be running again for Mayor. He is being challenged by incumbent Vice Mayor Ferdinand Maliwanag. As an appeal, let us not vote for Emralino for the reason that he has done nothing but a mess. bear in mind that he is establishing a "DYNASTY" in Candelaria. His son is currently the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Municipal Federation President Alfonso. Another Emralino's son, Bernard is running for councilor. It is now a family affair in Candelaria. Will you risk for them. Mga kababayan, isasakripisyo nyo ba ang bayan para sa interes ng Pamilya Emralino? Sawa Na! Sobra Na! Magbago Na! Palitan na si Mayor David Emralino! ATTY. FERDINAND "BONG" MALIWANAG tayo sa MAYOR
