Canley

Canley is a suburban neighbourhood located in southwest Coventry, England. Canley became part of Coventry as a result of successive encroachment of the latter's boundaries between 1928 and 1932, having historically been part of the Stoneleigh parish.

Locally the area is known for its above-average crime rates, specifically burglary; in 2006 the City Council targeted the area for a large-scale urban regeneration programme.

The area is home to a large number of students attending the nearby University of Warwick.

There was a level crossing adjacent to Canley railway station until 2001, when the road was closed and a foot bridge was built over the railway.

Canley is known for its connection with the history of the Triumph Motor Company.

Sir Henry Parkes (1815 - 1896) was born in Canley, where there is a street named after him. A school that was named after him in Canley is now closed.
