Charles Rabemananjara (born June 9, 1947[1]) is the current prime minister of Madagascar. He took office on 20 January 2007 at the beginning of the second term of President Marc Ravalomanana.[2] During Ravalomanana's first term, which began in 2002, Rabemananjara served as military chief of staff until[citation needed] late November 2005, when he became minister of the interior and administrative reform;[1] after becoming prime minister, he remained interior minister in the new government.[3]

Rabemananjara is a general in the army of Madagascar,[2] and his appointment as prime minister of Madagascar may be a sign of growing military influence in the government,[citation needed] following a coup attempt in November 2006.
