Frederica Charlotte of Prussia

Frederica Charlotte of Prussia (17671820), known after her marriage as Frederica, Duchess of York, was the only daughter of King Frederick William II of Prussia and his first wife Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Lüneburg.

Frederica Charlotte was born in Charlottenburg, on 7 May 1767.

On 29 September 1791 in Charlottenburg, she married Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, the second son of George III of the United Kingdom and a cousin of hers. There was a second marriage at Buckingham Palace on 23 November. The new Duchess of York received an enthusiastic welcome in London, but the marriage was not a happy one, and the couple soon separated. They had no children.

She died, on 6 August 1820, in Oatlands Park, Weybridge, Surrey, England.
