Chicago Diner

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chicago Diner is a vegetarian restaurant located on Chicago's north side. It is located in the Lakeview (Chicago) neighborhood on Halsted Street. Opened in 1983, the diner offers all-American style menu items that are strictly vegetarian, and most are suitable for vegans. Almost any non-vegan item can be made with vegan substitutions. A few items, such as omelettes, cannot be made vegan. Many of the menu items include faux meat made from seitan or tofu. There are also raw food choices and a set of all vegan deserts. The restaurant has its own parking lot in the busy neighborhood where nearby parking can be hard to find. Diners have the choice of sitting indoors or on the outdoor patio when the temperature is warm. In an interview with actor John C. Reilly in the August 11, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly, the Chicago native listed the Chicago Diner on his "must list."
