Chiclete com Banana

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chiclete com Banana is an Axé music band, currently consisting of Bell Marques, Wadinho Marques, Rey, Waltinho Cruz, Deny and Lelo. They released their first album, called "Traz os montes", in 1982. In the past, Cacique Johnny was one of the founders of the band (and composer of several success songs), but after a controversious fight, he does not play there anymore, having even sued the band for his rights...

Nowadays, they are one of the most successful axé music bands in Brazil. Their abadás are the most expensive on Salvador Carnival, reaching up to R$ 2.000 for 3 days (about 700 Euros), while on the black market it can cost twice or even three times more. They usually have anywhere from 200.000 to 500.000 people walking along their sound truck (or Trio Elétrico). This is divided in about 5.000 - 10.000 people inside the "ropes" that protect them (the ones who bought the "abadás") and all the others are people mainly from the city of Salvador or tourists that are fans of other bands.
