In October 1998 Chiranjeevi started his Charitable Trust "'Chiranjeevi Eye & Blood Bank and Charitable Trust"on 2nd October 1998 with a mission to bridge the gap between demand and supply of blood in AP. Chiranjeevi promoted the awareness of blood donation very aggressively with the help of his fans. Each film of him also has clippings of Chiranjeevi’s message about blood and eye donation. In 1997, the demand for blood units in AP was around 1,50,000 and the supply was only 50,000 which was 33%. With the initiative taken by Chiranjeevi in spreading the awareness of blood donation, the demand-supply gap is minimized to 65% now.The two major wings of CCT are blood bank and eye bank. In a span of five years, CCT has collected 38,200 units of blood. 79% of these blood units (30,500) were given to poor and downtrodden for free of cost and remaining units were given to corporate hospitals at a nominal fee. CCT has collected 390 pairs of eyes and 780 blind people were benefited through cornea transplant at CCT. CCT also won the prestigious "Best Voluntary Blood Bank' award by State Government of AP for the years of 2002 and 2003. Later in June 2006 President of India – Dr. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the new facility of Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation at Jubilee Hills Check post and released the first vision(initiative to spread awareness about HIV infected and affected children) document of CCF (Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundarion). Recently his Fans created sensational news that he is going to start a new political party by Rallying All over the sate and without Chiranjeevi's Consent, as of this Date NO Confirmation from Chiranjeevi on this matter!
