The Chrysler Pacifica was a mid-size crossover SUV, originally produced by DaimlerChrysler and transferred to Chrysler LLC, when it was spun off in 2007. As frequently reported, the Pacifica does share its platform with the Chrysler minivans. It offers all-wheel drive and an upscale interior to individuals who need cargo and passenger flexibility. It was introduced in 2004 and was originally inspired by the 1999 Chrysler Pacifica and 2000 Chrysler Citadel concept cars. The Pacifica, according to Chrysler, is a “sports tourer” and is built in Windsor, Ontario, Canada alongside the long-wheelbase Chrysler Town & Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan.

The Chrysler Pacifica[1] was inducted into the luxury crossover market in 2004. Unlike its later versions, it came in just one trim level, dubbed Pacifica. 2004 showed low popularity as a crossover SUV, yet sales would heighten in the following years.
The 2005 Pacifica came packed with many extra trim levels, including Base, Touring, Limited, and the limited-version Signature Series. This flexibility for consumers caused the Pacifica to heighten in overall popularity with buyers and critics, resulting in high sales.
The interior was also slightly restyled. Wood trim came standard in all Pacifica's, while the black and silver interior trims in the 2004 version were cut from the overall design. The exterior wasn't changed until 2007.
The Pacifica's exterior was slightly restyled for 2007, as seen mainly by the headlights. Beyond that, there is a restyled hood, fenders, grille, and front fascia. Chrysler also revised the 17 inch wheels. In terms of the powertrain the brand new 4.0 L SOHC V6 engine was added, to complement the standard 3.8 L EGH V6. With the addition of the new engine and transmission, Dual Exhaust was added. Included in this update was also the addition of some new options, such as a rearview camera (viewed where navigation system is), YES Essentials seat fabric, and new wheel options.
The 2008 model year is the Pacifica's final model year. It was announced on November 1, 2007 that the Pacifica is to be discontinued[2]. Chrysler won't be active in the crossover SUV market until a new vehicle based on the Dodge Journey crossover SUV is scheduled to replace the Pacifica. The last Pacifica rolled off the Windsor line in November 2007.
Every Pacifica has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds as long as an appropriate hitch is attached. Autostick-equipped transaxles is standard on all Pacifica models The Autostick enables consumers to switch from automatic to manual shifting while driving. The Pacifica comes with the option of two engines; either a 4.0 liter V6 SOHC 6-speed transmission, or 3.8 liter V6 OHV 4-speed. Other features include five-link rear suspension, self-leveling rear shock absorbers, and variable assist rack-and-pinion steering.
In 2006 the Chrysler Pacifica won an award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as the “best pick frontal”. Then in 2007, with the release of a new model, the Pacifica won a five star front and side crash test rating. The Pacifica received this award for being equipped with traction control, four wheel anti-lock disc brakes, all-row side curtain air bags, Electronic Stability Program, and tire pressure monitoring system.
All Pacifica's come stock with first and second row seats. A third row of seating is optional. Front row seats feature an eight-way power driver seat and four-way power passenger seat on all standard Pacificas. The Limited and Touring include a ten-way power seat for the driver. The Pacifica comes with a memory system for seat preferences along mirrors and pedals. Seats are available with stain and odor resistant fabric on all seats and six different fabric designs. 79.5 cubic feet of cargo space is available when second and third rows are folded down. All Pacifica models come with AM/FM radio along with CD player. Limited models come with a year subscription of Sirius satellite radio and 6-disc DVD player capable of playing MP3, DVD audio, DVD video, DVD-R and DVD-RW discs. Standard models include dual-zone manual temperature control while the Limited and Touring have an automatic temperature control system. Limited and Touring models also come standard with a navigation system and a hands-free communication system.
Even after price cuts and improvements, the Pacifica has sold poorly since its introduction in 2003. A fall of 13% in sales from 2006 - 2007 prompted Chrysler to end the Pacifica after 2008. Chrysler also expects 2008 to be the Pacifica's worst model year.
All editions are available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive models.
