Clay Buchholz

Clay Buchholz (born August 14, 1984 in Beaumont, Texas) is an American baseball player.

Growing up in Lumberton, Texas, Buchholz played baseball for the local Little League until High School. After High School, Clay attended McNeese State University for a short period before transferring to Angelina College. He was drafted, aged 20, by the Boston Red Sox first round 2005 (40th pick). He is currently the ace of the rotation for the Red Sox's Single A Organization, the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and was listed as the Red Sox's second best prospect headed into the 2007 season by Baseball America. He also recently started his first spring training game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He pitched 4.2 innings, gave up 7 hits and 3 runs, while recording 3 strikeouts.

Buchholz has a mid-90s four-seam fastball, a two-seam fastball, a slider, curveball, and a circle change. He also played outfield at Angelina College.
