Grover Cleveland High School is a public school serving grades 9-12. Cleveland Humanities Magnet is part of Cleveland High School. The school is located in the neighborhood of Reseda, in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California.

Cleveland, a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, was named after President Grover Cleveland.

The school serves several areas, including portions of Winnetka and Northridge.

The school colors are red and black and the teams are called the Cavaliers (named this before the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA).

Cleveland High School was honored as a 2005 California Distinguished School. It has a student population of over 4,000. Entering students are allowed to choose a learning community he or she wishes to be a part of. The school is divided into eight small learning communities (SLC):

• Academy of Art and Technology (AOAT):
  

This SLC is a program that is art and technology-centered.

• School for Advanced Studies (SAS):
  

SAS is a four-year program that encourages students to push themselves academically in preparation for college. While English is the sole class that links all SAS students, they are required to take one AP (Advanced Placement, meaning college-level) class in their sophomore year. In addition, not only have SAS students consistently ranked among the top 5% of their class, but have also actively participated in community service projects. (Most notable, the establishment of annual toy drives during Christmas Time for the KTLA sponsored toy drive.) The workloads of these students are usually characterized by an average of 3 or 4 Advanced Placement classes by their Junior and Senior year, though some do take more. The program's relatively small size facilitates the creation of bonds among students and with teachers. Students from the SAS program have been admitted to a number of prestigious universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia.

• Interdisciplinary Studies (IS):
  

IS is a program that helps students with their writing skills. The students in IS take classes in Art, History, and English, and find the connections that exist with all their classes.

• The Humanities Magnet (Core) [1][2] :
  

Core is the four year magnet program that is dedicated to teaching students to become critical thinkers. It is composed of over 800 students and combines interdisciplinary classes with a specific theme for that unit. It is a writing based program that looks at society from all different angles. It has a loose connection with University of California, Berkeley and sends a sizeable portion of its graduating class there. Required to take AP US junior year and AP English Literature during senior year, the Humanities CORE program is extremely rigorous and challenging. Focusing on many interdisciplinary aspects such as philosophy, social institutions, art, film, and more, it not only educates the students in this program, it teaches them to become better people in the future.

• Media Academy:
  

The Media Academy is the SLC dedicated to enriching students through the world of film making, cartoon, newscasting, and whatever else that exists in the film and television industry. Students get the chance to learn how to make their own news program in the weekly ten minute program, called KCAV, which is shown schoolwide on Fridays.

• Multicultural Academy:
  

This SLC was created to help students improve their English speaking skills. It is for students who are not from the United States, and helps them adjust to their new surroundings.

• AVID:
  

AVID, which stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, is a SLC that helps students to succeed academically. It provides an environment in which students who have been pushed down are encouraged to develop skills that will help them for the rest of their lives.

• CAV House:
  

Cav House, which stands for Character, Academics, and Vision, is a SLC that focuses on ninth grade students and their transition into high school.

Besides the smaller learning communities, Cleveland has a strong math department. It is known for its two year program which propels its students into APCalculus BC by their Junior year.

A variety of clubs and organizations exists on campus such as Optimist Club, Key Club, MeCha, Gay-Straight Alliance, Christian Club, Recycling Club, Korean Club, Junior Statesmen of America, and WiTS to name a few. There are organizations such as Yearbook, Journalism, SkillsUSA, and the Music Department (Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Beginning Instruments)

• Cleveland High School Marching Cavaliers Band and Drill Team:
  

Reopened in 1997, The Music Program and Drill Team had quite a rich history, winning city/state championships, performing for former presidents as well as at theme parks. The band is led by Sam Baltimore. On November 10, 2007, the Cleveland Marching Cavaliers Band and Drill Team won third place at the Granada Hills Highlander Competition. The drumline won first place at the competition as well. On November 11, 2007, the Cavaliers also competed in the San Fernando Valley Veterans's Parade and took home third place. San Fernando High School and Chatsworth High School took home first and second place respectively.

• Knights and Ladies is a Seniors-only Community Service Club that Cleveland offers that is extremely competitive to enter. Members are only selected through rigorous interviews and impeccable resumes that are submitted by the students.

Students at Cleveland are allowed to participate in a wide range of sports at both the varsity and junior varsity level. The school is equipped with tennis courts, a football field, a soccer field, a baseball field, a weights room, water polo. The Cleveland High School swimming team recently won the CIF City Section title in Boys swimming in 2006 and 2007, The Girls won the same title in 2004 and 2005

JV baseball won city champs on May 31, 2007; Varsity baseball lost the city championships at Dodgers Stdaium to Chatsworth 2-1. However, in this game, there were two very controversial calls- one in the top of the 7th, and one on a balk that allowed Chatsworth to score a run.

• The film, American Gun, had a few scenes shot at Cleveland High School.
  
• Melissa Etheridge's "Breathe" music video was filmed at Cleveland's football field.
• Three 6 Mafia has also shot the music video for "Good Googly Moogly" on the football field.
