Clifford's Puppy Days is an animated television series on PBS Kids. It features Clifford the Big Red Dog, a popular cartoon character and it is set when Clifford was a puppy. Other characters are Clifford's friends, Norville (a bird), Jorge (a dog), Flo and Zo (two cats), and Daffodil (a rabbit).

Contents

Clifford was a small red puppy, and when Emily Elizabeth heard her neighbor (Mr. Bradley which was found out in the Original series episode "Little Clifford") was giving away puppies, she wanted Clifford because he was the smallest. Emily took care of Clifford and over a span of time (less than a year or so) Clifford grew to the size of a giant dog. Only later did Emily move to Birdwell Island, where the original series was set. The Puppy Day's Timeline takes place during the first year or two of Clifford's life.

The show followed the same format as its predeccessor, Clifford the Big Red Dog.

First Story - The opening theme is followed by the first story, which is about the dogs, and a problem they face.
Speckle Story - Between the first and second story, Emily Elizabeth reads Clifford the Speckle Story, a small 30 second (approximately) time filler about a fictional dog (Speckle), and his animal friends.
Second Story - After the Speckle filler another story takes place, this time about Emily Elizabeth and her friends.
Clifford's Idea to Grow On - Before the credits, another 30 second short takes place called Clifford's Idea to Grow On. The short is basically an animation of an etiquette, a proverb, or basic truth such as "Be Fair", "Be Helpful", etc, with narration by Emily Elizabeth. This short was called Clifford's Big Idea in the previous series.

The opening theme, "Love Makes Little Things Grow", was preformed by Freedom Bremner (See credits).

Some story lines gets mixed up when transferring from the Puppy days storyline to the original. In the Puppy Day's storyline line, Clifford is friends with Flo and Zo, two cats, but that contradicts what occurs on Birdwell Island when in an episode two cats invade T-Bone's yard (Billy and Betty) in the Original Series Episode "The Truth about Cats and Dogs" Cleo announces that cats hate dogs and Clifford agrees with her. (The timeline of when Clifford was the puppy size to him being the big dog on Birdwell Island isn't that long (within a year or so)).

In the original series episode Little Clifford (most likely the base of the Puppy Days' storyline), Clifford was introduced into the Howard family. In the episode there is no sign of Daffodil (the rabbit) although in the Puppy Day's Episode "Oh, Brother" Daffodil talks of when Clifford first came into the Howard Family and that she was not getting the attention from Emily Elizabeth anymore, to the point of grabbing the attention no matter what the circumstance.

In the original series episode Doggy Reunion, Clifford is reunited with Rex who is Emily's cousin's (Laura's) dog who played with Clifford when he was a puppy. As of October 2006 Rex the dog and cousin Laura have not been introduced into the Puppy Day's timeline.
