Clyde is a city in Sandusky County, Ohio, United States. The population was 6,064 at the 2000 census.

The town is known for having served as the setting for Sherwood Anderson's 1919 collection of short stories Winesburg, Ohio. Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael was set, and partially filmed in this small town.

Senator George W. Norris was born near Clyde on July 11, 1861. Union general James B. McPherson was born near Clyde on November 14, 1828.

The nickname for Clyde's school sports teams is the Clyde Fliers. (http://www.clyde.k12.oh.us/welcome.htm)

Clyde is nicknamed "Little Chicago" for being a famous Chicago mobster hangout, and often played temporary refuge for gangster Al Capone.

Clyde is located at 41°18′18″N, 82°58′36″W (41.304912, -82.976529)^GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.5 km² (4.4 mi²). 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (1.13%) is water.

As of the census^GR2 of 2000, there were 6,064 people, 2,304 households, and 1,633 families residing in the city. The population density was 533.3/km² (1,381.5/mi²). There were 2,471 housing units at an average density of 217.3/km² (563.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.04% White, 0.15% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.21% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.70% of the population.

There were 2,304 households out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.07.

In the city the population was spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $39,764, and the median income for a family was $45,646. Males had a median income of $32,189 versus $23,549 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,966. About 6.8% of families and 8.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.4% of those under age 18 and 7.9% of those age 65 or over.
