Cock Rock Disco
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cock Rock Disco is an independent record label started in 2001 by Jason Forrest. Initially it was conceived as an outlet for his own music, for which he then used the stage name, Donna Summer. The label features breakcore and experimental artists such as Forrest himself, but has expanded beyond his styles to include other types of electronic music. Nobably, some releases have pop and hip-hop elements beyond what is ordinarily found in breakcore or any music considered experimental. CRD is primarily a one man show, with Forrest handling most of the label's operations himself.
The label has a strong international element, having released music by North American, Central American, South American, Asian and European artists. Fittingly, the label was started by Forrest when he lived in New York and followed him when he moved to Berlin.
Many CRD releases are available on traditional media (CD, vinyl) and as electronic downloads from the Cock Rock Disco web site. Cock rock disco is also a term Forrest has used to describe his musical style, finding it more descriptive than established genre names like "breakcore."
