Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) NYSE: CSC is an information technology (IT) and business services company headquartered in El Segundo, California, USA. CSC provides business transformation and IT consulting; systems integration and professional services; enterprise application development and management; application software for the financial services industry; business process outsourcing; and application and IT infrastructure outsourcing. CSC serves Fortune Global 1000 companies in fifteen industries and national and local governments. CSC employs about 77,000 people in 88 countries.
CSC reported revenue of $14.616 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2006.
CSC's subsidiary in Denmark is the main sponsor of Bjarne Riis' Team CSC road bicycle racing team.
CSC also produces mainframe product sets known as HOGAN and CAMSII. CAMSII is predominantly a Card Issuing Platform although it has been tailored into a bespoke Merchant Acquiring Settlement Processing system. HOGAN provides core banking platform functionality for Enterprise Banks.
CSC's history began in April 1959 when it was founded by Roy Nutt and Fletcher Jones as well as Bob Patrick who left after a few months.[3] Their goal was to provide programming tools such as assemblers and compilers. Jones, who ran the business and marketing end of things, obtained a contract from Honeywell that gave their business profitability and respect within the industry. In 1961 the company made a major move into the space industry when they obtained a contract to support the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Flight Operations Facility. Within four years of its founding, CSC became the largest software company in the United States. Taking their business public with an IPO listed on the American Stock Exchange. By the end of the 1960s, CSC was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and had operations in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Brasil, and in The Netherlands.
