Consumer watchdog

Consumer Watchdog is a division of Business & Enterprise Solutions Botswana (Pty) Ltd (besbw) a privately owned company registered in Botswana, based in Gaborone.

With newspaper columns in both Mmegi and The Voice every Friday and a radio show on YaronaFM every Tuesday at 7:15am Consumer Watchdog has an extremely wide reach regarding consumer issues in Botswana.

Originally set up in 2005, Watchdog has the following ambitions:

  • To campaign for legislation to protect the consumer
  • To represent consumers and advocate on their behalf
  • To make service providers in Botswana accountable
  • To educate consumers about their choices, their rights, their responsibilities

In April 2006 Consumer Watchdog hosted it's first Birthday Party, sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank Botswana with HE The President of Botswana as the Guest of Honour. Over 130 customer service champions were celebrated.

Consumer Watchdog representatives have worked widely with a huge number of companies in Botswana and southern Africa, including all the major banks in Botswana, the Government, insurance companies, retail outlets and restaurants.

Services delivered include customer service training, organisational review and mystery shopping.
