The "Cough/Cool" 7" single was the first release by the punk rock band The Misfits. It was released on the bands' own Blank Records, as catalog number 101, in August 1977. Only 500 copies were printed.

The band had only been together a few months, and already went through a line-up change, when they went in to the Rainbow Studio to record these songs in June of 1977. The tracks were then mastered at The Spectrum in Brooklyn, NY.

This is the only release where bassist Jerry Only was credited by his real name, Jerry Caiafa. Glenn Danzig had incorrectly spelled Caiafa as Caifa in the notes, so reportedly Jerry told Danzig he was to be called "Jerry, only Jerry" from then on. He has gone by his stage name since.

The original 7" is rarely seen at eBay, most of the times auctions end up nearly at $2000.

The songs on here later appeared on The Misfits' Box Set.
