The County College of Morris is a smoke-free campus as of January 1, 2007. It is one of the first public colleges to ban smoking entirely. The decision to ban smoking was a project of the 2005-2006 Student Government Association, claiming that by having designated smoking areas, the university is silently promoting it. Additional reasons for the ban included the proof that bans help and encourage people to quit smoking[2], the fact that smoking is only allowed on campus because it was grandfathered in (i.e. if smoking was discovered today, colleges and universities would enforce strict policies against it), and health issues.
