Crescent Street (officially rue Crescent) is one of Montreal's party places, filled with clubs and bars. The Crescent Street zone extends over to other neighbouring north-south streets, and the blocks that connect them to Crescent (Mountain Street, Bishop Street, Mackay Street). Crescent is generally considered to be for English Montreal, but many francophones can be found partying there. The French Montreal equivalent would be Saint Denis Street in the Latin Quarter, but as for Crescent Street many Anglophones party there as well. A small alleyway is named in honour of former Montreal Gazette columnist Nick Auf der Maur, Montreal personality and a frequenter of Winnie's. Nick is the father of rocker Melissa Auf der Maur. Crescent Street lies next to Quartier Concordia which features Concordia University.

Highlights of Crescent Street include:

  • F1 Street Festival — Crescent street merchants holds a street fair during Formula 1 week with open air free concerts, terrasses for the bars into the streets, street vendors, and racing displays. This festival un-officially kicks off Montreal's festival season.
  • Newtown restaurant, lounge, and club, co-owned by former Formula 1 world driving champion Jacques Villeneuve (a play on the English translation of his name, Jack Newtown), where many of the glitterati of Formula 1 congregate in the leadup to the Canadian Grand Prix.
