Curly Top was a 1935 musical starring Shirley Temple, Rochelle Hudson, Jane Darwell, and John Boles. It was directed by Irving Cummings, and featured the song "Animal Crackers in My Soup". The film was based on Jean Webster's novel Daddy Long Legs.

The film follows the life of orphaned sisters, Elizabeth (Shirley Temple) and Mary Blair (Rochelle Hudson), who live in a strict orphanage. Rebellious Elizabeth, who always stirs up trouble, especially during lunch time. When the wealthy trustee of the orphanage named Edward Morgon (John Boles) stops by, and helps the two girls get out of the orphanage. He lets them live in his large mansion, and even pays for their education. When Elizabeth notices the two have a thing for each other, she schemes a plan to get the two together.
