Cuts Like a Knife is the third solo album by Canadian musician Bryan Adams, released in 1983 (see 1983 in music). It proved to be Adams's major and definitive breakthrough as it managed to crack the Top 10 in the charts, peaking at #8 and spinning off Adams's first major hits in "Straight From the Heart" (his first great ballad) and the hard rocking title track as well as the top-25 hit "This Time".

Another standout track on the album is "The Best Was Yet to Come," a tribute to Canadian-born Playboy Playmate/actress Dorothy Stratten, who was slain by her estranged husband in a murder-suicide in 1980. The song was later covered by Laura Branigan.
