Dahisar

Dahisar is a suburb of Mumbai. It is also the name of a railway station on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Western Railway (India) railway line, situated in Dahisar suburb. Located on the city limits of Mumbai, Dahisar is the last station within the Mumbai district of greater Bombay ( Mumbai); past Dahisar lies the city's extended suburbs. The railway station divides Dahisar into 2 section: Dahisar East and Dahisar West.

The main Schools in Dahisar are Shailendra Education Society, VPM-Vidya Mandir, Poorna Prajana high School, St. Mary's High School, Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya , Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Vidyalaya and St Thomas High School and Rustomjee International school

Popular landmarks in Dahisar include Moviegem Cinema (earlier termed as Rajashree cinema) and Toll Naka in the east side and Dahisar Bridge in the west side. There is also a large stretch of land belonging to the AAI (Airports Authority of India) in Dahisar(East) lying close to the nearby residential area of Anand Nagar and Ketkipada.

Along the westside of Dahisar, flows a river known as Dahisar River, which orginates from Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Until recent past, it has been poorly polluted due to dense population alongside the banks of the river. Parallel to Dahisar River on the west side of Dahisar lies St. Louis Church.

Once an Isolated Location, now is bustling to seams with large population. The Oldest Buildings in Dahisar are Nand-Dham near Dahisar Bridge, Simplex Bhavan & Madina Manzil near to the SV Road. In the West, there used to be large Salt Pans, which have now been re-claimed to become Townships.
