The Daily Star is an Egyptian daily newspaper established in 2005 and owned by Egyptian Media Services. It is affiliated with the International Herald Tribune and with The Daily Star (Lebanon). According to its website, the paper carries "business, political and cultural news and analysis" as well as local Arab content originating from the Daily Star (Lebanon). All content is produced by an Egyptian Editorial team. The paper is the only independent English language daily in Egypt[citation needed] and as such does not belong to or is controlled by the State[citation needed]
