Debbie was born in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom. Debbie trained at the Royal Ballet School. Following her ballet training, McGee joined Dougie Squires' Second Generation troupe as a dancer.

McGee was first attracted to the millionaire Paul Daniels whilst working with him during his summer show in Great Yarmouth in 1979. She has since worked with him as his assistant both on television and stage. They married in 1988. She achieved national fame through her appearances on The Paul Daniels Magic Show, which ran on the BBC until 1994.

In recent years, McGee has performed some magic herself, usually on the corporate cabaret circuit.

In addition to her television work, in 1981 Debbie was featured as a prostitute in the Oscar-nominated 1981 film The French Lieutenant's Woman.

In 2000, McGee set up Ballet Imaginaire to produce ballet shows and tour them around the country. Ticket sales were reportedly poor for the ballet company's shows, despite preparations being recorded by Louis Theroux. Theroux's observations of the celebrity couple were later broadcast on BBC Two in a special entitled When Louis Met Paul and Debbie. The special was broadcast in 2001, it resulted in a boost in the pair's profile and has since lead to other TV work for the duo.

In October 2004, she appeared on The Farm, five's version of the RTE show Celebrity Farm. In May 2006, she appeared on The X Factor: Battle of the Stars with her husband singing Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams. Debbie and Paul were knocked out in the first round of the talent show.

In 2007, McGee appeared along with husband Paul, Vanessa Feltz and her fiancé Ben Ofoedu in the celebrity edition of Channel 4 television programme Wife Swap, broadcast on 1st April 2007.

Currently she runs her own model agency, Debbie McGee Models. Alongside husband Paul, Debbie regularly works by performing in venues around the world. They also have a dog.

McGee is presently writing a book [1], although the subject matter remains a mystery.
