Ded Gjo Luli

Ded Gjo Luli, formally known as Dedë Gjon Luli Dedvukaj (1840-1915), was born in Traboin-Hoti (Malësi e Madhe). He was one of the leading nationalists of the Albanian revolt for independence. Deda is most known for starting the revolution for the Albanians, which eventually lead to later actions by Luigj Gurakuqi, Ismail Qemali, and Isa Boletini. Dedvukaj was the chef commander of the Malësia army. He was the first person to raise the Albanian Flag on 1911 in the Albanian town of Tuzi, Montenegro, following national hero Gjergj Kastrioti (Skenderbeg) on 1443. In Tirana, Albania today, there is a street named in his honour called "Rruga Ded Gjo Luli".
