Diane English

Diane English (born 1948 in Buffalo, New York) is a U.S. television producer and writer. She is the creator of the television series Murphy Brown. She was also a writer and producer for the television series My Sister Sam.
She graduated from Buffalo State College in 1970.
In 1992, English stirred up much controversy when her lead character in Murphy Brown decided to have a child out of wedlock. Vice President Dan Quayle strongly voiced his disproval of this decision, opining that English was mocking the importance of a father's role in the rearing of a child. Quayle was also joined by English's own brother Richard English who is a Baptist preacher in Western New York.
