Dillo Day

Dillo Day is an annual music festival that takes place on the Saturday before Memorial Day at Northwestern University. Organized by the Mayfest student group, the day is characterized by an all-day concert on the Northwestern Lakefill.
Recent headlining bands include Robert Randolph and the Family Band and Ben Folds in 2006, and George Clinton, Yellowman, Third World, The Wailers, The Crystal Method, Outkast, and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in previous years.
Dillo Day has become informally known as an occasion for mass consumption of alcohol and drugs by many Northwestern students. As a result, campus security is tightened each year on Dillo Day and numerous citations are handed out for drinking in public [1]. Liquor retailers in the surrounding city of Evanston enjoy some of their best business of the entire year on Memorial Day weekend[2].
