Direct Selling Association

The Direct Selling Association or DSA is the American national trade association of leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers.

Founded in Binghamton, New York in 1910, the association was originally called the Agents Credit Association. It became the Direct Selling Association in 1968. More than 200 companies are members of the DSA and pledge to abide by its code of ethics. The DSA was largely responsible for outlawing pyramid scheming. However, in recent years it has been accused of becoming a lobby for multi-level marketing (MLM), a term which opponents argue is merely a gloss for product-based pyramid schemes, and of pushing to outlaw classic pyramiding only to legitimize product-based pyramiding in its place.[1]
