Dominic Carter

Dominic Carter is the Anchor of NY1's long-running news and commentary program focused on New York City politics, Inside City Hall. He has been a reporter and anchor for the network since its inception in 1992.

Throughout his career Carter has conducted exclusive interviews of prominent figures in the news, e.g. the late John Cardinal O'Connor, former President Bill Clinton, and Kadiatou Diallo, the mother of shooting victim Amadou Diallo.

Most recently, Carter made national news as the moderator of a series of state-wide debates in New York State, including with Senator Hillary Clinton who admitted for the very first time, she was looking at running for president. Other debates included races for Governor and State Attorney General.

The journalist has broadcast live from Japan, and been on assignment in Israel, Somalia, and the Persian Gulf. He has appeared on the cover of the New York Times TV guide, and appeared in the Washington Post. His TV appearances range from the Fox News Channel to CNN and PBS.

Carter attended the State University of New York at Cortland, and Graduate school at Syracuse University.

Carter is releasing his first book in May 2007 on a very troubled relationship with his mother, titled No Momma's Boy. Carter's mother was clinically diagnosed as a "chronic paranoid schizophrenic" and heard voices telling her to kill her baby, and actually tried on several ocassions, yet as a child, Dominic remained in her custody.
