James Stuart, 1st Earl of Bute

James Stuart, 1st Earl of Bute (b. before 16661710) was the son of Sir Dugald Stuart, 2nd Baronet and Elizabeth Ruthven.

In July 1680, he married Agnes Mackenzie and had two children:

  1. Margaret Stuart (b. before 168127 April 1738) m. John Lindsay, 1st Viscount Garnock
  2. James Stuart, 2nd Earl of Bute (b. before 169628 January 1723)
