The Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Club Canberra, or RUFC, was founded in 1938 and is A.C.T's oldest and most prestigious Rugby Union Football Club.

'Easties' as they are affectionately known by their club members, have a rich and proud history. The club is responsible for producing some of Australia's most talented and respected rugby players.

Easts currently participate in the ACTRU Premier Division based in Canberra. Although Easts have not secured a premiership title since 1938, they have continuously demonstrated that they are they most consistent club in terms of on-field performance. Easts are also known for the depth of their player talent, as unlike most clubs in the Canberra competition, they regularly turn out strong teams in all grades.

Wallabies captain George Gregan, rising star and Australia's highest paid rugby player Matt Giteau, Prop Guy Shepardson and A.C.T rugby legend Adam Doyle, are all a product of East’s world famous rugby nursery.

In recent years in could be said that Easts have been going through a rebuilding phase, as older players retire, and are replaced by comparatively young and inexperienced players. Many at the club have found it difficult to remain positive in the light of recent disappointments, however it is widely believed that as East's talented youth develop both physically and mentally the club's results will improve. Players such as Tau Tahalo, Sione Ahosivie, Joe Shirley, Jacob Cannon and Nick Dalstrom are all considered to be future stars, and they are all currently registered with Easts. This is encouraging for a club who is determine to reestablish itself as a proud and powerful club.
