Echoes of Silence

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Echoes of Silence is a one-man Symphonic Black Metal band from Monrovia, CA. With elements of electronica, death metal and some doom metal, Echoes of Silence fused the lines between those genres together.

Echoes of Silence originally started in 2000 under the name of Dark Divinity. It eventually faded out and died in early 2002 due to constant loss of members. So Mortis decided to lead his project on while still playing in main project at the time Mournful Silence.

In 2003, Mortis of Mournful Silence went to pursue his own music (what was left of Dark Divinity). He decided to rename his project Necromancy then later Midnight Masquerade. As time progressed, the members of Mournful Silence split up and went their separate ways.

Mortis later changed his identity to Leviticai and later changed the band's name to Echoes of Silence. He also later added ex-Mournful Silence/The Master's Apprentice guitarist Demonicus to his lineup. They wrote much material and lyrics dealing with the past up to how organized religion such as Christianity has ruined society. Their first recorded demo "Echoes in the Night" was done with just a simple drum machine and guitars. The recording quality wasn't all that great but the music was well put together.

Demonicus later left the band due to personal reasons. Leviticai spent much time doing music alone. He released his first CD Where No Sun Shines on Anno Satannas Records at the beginning of 2005. The album was more doom than black metal. With dark and eerie synths and dark tones, the album had filled the gap between doom metal, industrial and black metal.

Later, Leviticai released his second album Thy Darkest Desires EP, also on Anno Satannas Records. Being a little heavier and more complex, the album caught interest in many. Being an all instrumental album, many related it to late Burzum. The album had dark synths putting listeners in a depressed mood.

After some time, Leviticai decided to search for another member. He later found Dominicus (current Demonichrist guitarist). Later seeing that he was not fit for Echoes of Silence, Leviticai had to let him go. Leviticai later met Lord Onigumo (ex-Gorthyrmus member). After a few months past, Leviticai decided to do Echoes of Silence alone. Leviticai released his third album from Echoes of Silence called Ravendusk. It was expected to be their best work of all time. Inspired by early Bathory, Cradle of Filth, Burzum, Behemoth and Carpathian Forest, this album is going to be pure, raw, evil black metal.
