Efetobore Sodje (born October 5, 1972 in Greenwich) is a footballer with Southend United, having signed from Yeovil in January 2006.
A central defender, he is famous for wearing a bandana which bears the words "Against All Odds". Efe is the only of the brothers to wear the bandana, and this is simply because his mother told him to wear headress, therefore he adopted the bandana[citation needed]. This trend started during his time at Stevenage Boro. This was particularly popular in his Yeovil and Huddersfield days, and was made available for fans to buy in the club shop of both clubs at the times he was playing for them. He is from a footballing family, with two brothers in the football league — Sam, a defender with Reading, and Akpo, a forward with Port Vale. Their cousin Omone is on the books of Charlton Athletic while his other two brothers Steve and Bright also play sports in England (football and rugby league, respectively).
Efe has featured at international level for Nigeria and was in the squad for the 2000 African Cup of Nations and the 2002 World Cup.
When playing Ipswich Town at Roots Hall, Sodje received some humorous abuse from the travelling support. The song "He's got a tea towel on his head" was sung in the stands. Town went on to win 3–1. This song actually originated in a game between Kidderminster Harriers vs Huddersfield during Sodje's spell playing for the Terriers.
