Electoral district of Alfred Cove

Alfred Cove is an Electoral district of Western Australia. As in other districts, the Alfred Cove district elects a single person to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. The elected person is then known as the Member for Alfred Cove, and is said to hold the seat of Alfred Cove. As of 2005, the Member for Alfred Cove is Dr Janet Woollard.
The Alfred Cove district was created by the redistribution before the 1996 State election, and combined the riverside northern ends of the abolished electorates of Melville and Applecross.
It covers 21 square kilometres along the southern shore of the Swan River between the Canning River and Point Walter, incorporating all the suburbs between the shoreline and Leach Highway. Suburbs include Attadale, Alfred Cove, Applecross Ardross, Mount Pleasant, Booragoon, Myaree and parts of Melville, Bicton and Palmyra. It is a very affluent area including many riverside properties, with the oldest age profile of any Perth electorate, more than a quarter of voters being aged over 65.
