Electoral district of Capel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Capel is an Electoral district of Western Australia. As in other districts, the Capel district elects a single person to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. The elected person is then known as the Member for Capel, and is said to hold the seat of Capel. As of 2005, the Member for Capel is Steve Thomas who holds the seat for the Liberal Party by a margin of 9.2%. The seat in 2009 is expected to be retained by the Liberal Party.
Capel covers the rural parts of the Shire of Busselton, generally south of the Busselton bypass, as well as Boyanup, Capel, Donnybrook, Balingup and the southern Bunbury suburbs of Withers, Usher and College Grove. It covers 3,402 square kilometres.
A new seat created in 2005 to deal with rapid population growth on the coast between Bunbury and Margaret River.
