Electoral district of Cockburn

Cockburn is an Electoral district of Western Australia. As in other districts, the Cockburn district elects a single person to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. The elected person is then known as the Member for Cockburn, and is said to hold the seat of Cockburn. As of 2001, the Member for Cockburn is Fran Logan who holds the seat for the Labor Party by a margin of 16.4%. The seat in 2009 is expected to be retained by the Labor Party.

132 km² in the southern part of the Perth metropolitan area to the west of the Kwinana Freeway. Much of the electorate's area is taken up by rural and unused land at Wattleup and Hope Velley. To the north the electorate includes the outer southern Perth suburbs of South Lake, Success, Yangebup, Beeliar and parts of Coogee and Munster. In the south it includes Median, Orelia, Calista, Kwinana Town Centre and parts of Parmelia. The electorate also includes the Kwinana industrial area.

Created in 1962, and Labor held since. Former members include Bill Thomas 1989-2001.
