Electoral district of Serpentine-Jarrahdale
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Serpentine-Jarrahdale is an Electoral district of Western Australia. As in other districts, the Serpentine-Jarrahdale district elects a single person to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. The elected person is then known as the Member for Serpentine-Jarrahdale, and is said to hold the seat of Serpentine-Jarrahdale. As of 2005, the Member for Serpentine-Jarrahdale is Tony Simpson who holds the seat for the Liberal Party by a margin of 1.2%. The seat in 2009 is expected to be closely fought over.
A strangely shaped electorate. While including Byford, Mundijong and the rest of Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire, the electorate stretches north either side of Armadale. To the west it includes the growing housing estates in Jandakot, Atwell and Canning Vale. To the east it laps at the foothills of the Darling Range, including Bedfordale and parts of Roleystone. Covers 1,359 km².
An entirely new seat, in physical area it resembles the old electorate of Roleystone.
