Elle Milano are a four-piece indie band based in Leicester, England, formed by the indie fashion models Adam Doherty and James Iha, formerly of the band Psirens. They are signed to Brighton Electric. They have several demos which are available online through various messageboards and the band's own Myspace account.
To support extensive touring in 2005, they resolved personnel issues by recruiting Glenda Lacey-Panties as bassist, and former Psirens bandmate Alex prowrestling, until then fronting Hikikomori Broadcast, to share in the engineering of 'vomit inducing noise' on guitar and keyboards.
Elle Milano have garnered sustained praise from the independent music press, including the fanzine ArtRocker. They donate a calculated cynicism of the innescapable clichés of industry-manufactured popular culture and the shallow consumerist attitudes of the information age, but also of the British indie rock scene and pretentious, flippant, student culture. The band have an edgy angular sound with a vaguely melodic pop influence, featuring sharp rhythms, sometimes spoken (often in a 'mockney' tone), sometimes yelped or screamed vocals and melodic bass-lines.
The band released "Swearing's for Art Students" as a limited edition EP on 2nd April 2006 to generally positive reviews[1] [2]. The EP is now sold out but can still be downloaded on sites such as iTunes
