EmEditor is a full-featured Windows text editor with source code syntax highlighting and support for regular expressions. It is supported on Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, and Windows 2000 (all 32-bit and 64-bit). There are three levels of the program available:

1. The free version is limited to the fewest features:

    • Single-Process, Multi-Threading, and Low Memory Usage
    • Tabbed Windows
    • Application Error Handler Support
    • Syntax/Keyword Highlighting
    • Unicode Support
    • Launch External Applications
    • OLE Drag and Drop among applications
    • Designed for Web Page Editing

2. The Standard version adds in the following:

    • Find in Files (without encoding specified)
    • Plug-in support
    • Save and Restore cursor position, Workspace
    • Bookmarks
    • Customizations
    • Import and Export syntax files, user settings
    • Edit source from Internet Explorer and Add EmEditor command to context menu

3. The Professional version includes all features, including support for JavaScript or VBScript macros, Unicode, and Plug-ins.

    • JavaScript or VBScript macros
    • Find/Replace in Files (with encoding)
    • Tab auto arrange, customize new tab insert position, etc.
    • Customize behavior when the tabs don't fit in the window.
    • Move to Last Edited Position command
    • Comment/Uncomment command
    • Increase/Decrease Font Size command
    • Find Next/Previous Unicode command
