En Avant de Guingamp is a French football club founded in 1912 and based in Guingamp that currently plays in Ligue 2. This professional team is atypical, playing in a commune of about 8,000 inhabitants, with a stadium of more than 18,000 seats.
A number of high profile players have played for Guingamp including Jean-Pierre Papin (who went on to become the manager of Strasbourg), Vincent Candela, Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba. Guingamp play their home matches at Stade du Roudourou which can hold up to 18,040 spectators. They finished the 2005-06 season in 9th place despite having been close to relegation for much of the season.
