Engerdal is a municipality in the county of Hedmark, Norway. Its (widely dispersed) population amounted on 1 January 2005 to 1,499.

The municipality is bordered by Sweden to the east, Trysil to the south, Rendalen to the west, and Os and Tolga to the north.

The greater part of Lake Femunden and roughly half of the Femundsmarka National Park also lie within the boundaries of the municipality.

The residents live widely spread out.

The municipality was first established in 1911. Parts of the municipalities Rendalen, Tolga and Trysil was then ceded, and joined together to this new municipality.

The first element is the rivername Engera, the last element is dal m 'valley, dale'. The rivername is derivated from the name of the lake Engeren, and this is probably derivated from the Norse word ongr 'narrow'.

The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1991). It shows a hame.
